    Vintage Obi – Japanese
    , 13’2” x 13”
    Up for sale is a vintage Obi, imported directly from Japan.
    I bought it c.1980 at a store which specialized in oriental antiques.
    I used it as a
    decorative
    table
    runner in my dining room (I sized the length by pulling up the yardage with looping folds).
    SUPERB as a wall hanging, also!
    The Obi is about 13 feet 2 inches long and 13 inches wide.
    It is double-sided brocade – one end is sewn shut – the other end is open and I have tried to photograph the interior (see last photo).
    The colors are a dominant oriental orange/red with some green, forming a repetitive stylized floral pattern on a beige background.
    Gold highlights enhance the color scheme.
    The Obi is in very good estate condition.
    No stains, but there are fold marks and wear from being stored in my linen closet for years.
