    Description

This metal letter opener has wonderful detail to it's design. The blade is very firm with good density with no damage. It's design work appears to be hand engraving. The handle is made from two parts, front and back, created from a thinner sheet of a dark metal and was plated. The entire handle is gold toned with the exception of her face, hand and foot which was done in a silver tone. The handle's plate does show wear-see photos. The disk portion of the handle behind her head shows indentations that we assume were created from thumb and fingers during use. The disks have open side rims that appear original to manufacture as due to blade being inserted the metal is not wide enough to solder closed. One side of handle just below disk has a 5/16" long crack in the solder seam. We are attributing the opener to Chinese origin due to the female figure we believe to be Quan Yin and a time period of 1880's
We are seniors and as my husband has health problems I try to only do errands, like Ebay shipping, on Tues. and Fridays.
