    Description

I just purchased a collection of Japanese obi sashes and kimonos at a local estate here in Central Virginia.  This auction is for a heavy silk brocade obi, featuring a repeating pattern of the crane of happiness and florals in dramatic tones of red with gold fabric patches and heavy gold and silver threading.  There are a few accents of blue and white interwoven in the pattern as well.  As pictured, the pattern side is interrupted with an area of plain gold lame fabric before continuing to the end which has a 1 1/2" gold border.
The back side of the obi has bright red cloth lining running the full length of 13 feet.  The obi is 11 1/2" in width.  It is in excellent vintage condition.
It has been folded as stored. I have little experience with these beautiful pieces of art, but am happy to a
nswer any questions.  Please check my other listings this week for more selections from this collection.
