    Description

    I just purchased a collection of Japanese obi sashes and kimonos at a local estate here in Central Virginia.  This auction is for a heavy silk brocade double sided obi, featuring a repeating pattern of ferns and a mirade of florals in subtle tones of rust, brown and white on a cream satin background.  The photo appears more red, but the true color is more of a rust.
    The back side of the obi repeats the front pattern for the full length of 12 3/4 feet, ending in an 8 3/4" border.  The obi is 12 1/2" in width.  It is in very good vintage condition with one small smudge spot and a trace of soil on the border edges.
    It has been folded as stored. I have little experience with these beautiful pieces of art, but am happy to a
