Beautiful Vintage Japanese Silk Obi Set with Hand Painted Sash

This is a Vintage Japanese Silk Obi Set with Hand Painted Sash.
At the time of the original listing, this was one of two listings being added for Vintage Japanese Obi.  If you search for obi in our ebay store search box near the top right of the listing, you can view both listings, if still available.
This set is absolutely beautiful and appears to be of exceptional quality.  We were able to get an incomplete verbal provenance regarding this piece.  The information we were given was that a local historical society or museum group in the Seattle area held an event showcasing a historic Seattle home and several generations of different ethnicities who owned the home of a period of a number of decades.  For each family, available historical items and items representative of their ethnicity were displayed throughout the house, celebrating their history and that of the house.  We were told that this obi was associated with a Japanese family or family of Japanese descent that owned the home during the 1920s.  We were not able to get clarification if this specific obi had actually been owned by that family or if it was just representative of something they might have owned.  After the exhibition, some of the items, such as this obi were sold.  The person we purchased the obi from was directly involved the planning, assembly, and display of the items for the exhibition.
The sash is 4 1/2" wide x 89" (7' 5") long.  I was made from a 9" wide piece of silk folded in half inside out, sewn the entire length, hemmed at the ends, and then reversed and painted on the outside.  I cannot tell for sure if the muted orange is painted or not, but the squares that are gold on the outside, and an off white inside, so each gold square on the outside is definitely hand painted, so you can imagine the huge amount of skilled work that it took to produce this painting on 15 feet of material (since both sides of the sash had to be painted).  The other piece has maximum overall dimensions of about 13 1/2" x 13".  I assumed it was silk as well but I do not know for sure.  It is made from a very, very heavy black brocade material and the outer side has about 8 bands of woven in geometric designs of differing patterns.  On top of these designs there are heavy embroidered flowers in shades of silver and gray.  The material was a long strip fold several times and sewn at the back such that there is a horizontal channel through the piece, open at the left and right.  At the left, there is an 11" wide x 5 3/4" high piece of the material that is folded on the left to pass through the channel and extend a couple of inches at the right edge.  The back has what appears to be a metal bracket such as would slip or a belt, covered with a textured plastic like material.  I am not sure exactly how this was employed when wearing the sash.
We are not knowledgeable at all about obis.  We are aware there there are different types of sashes and other parts worn for a variety of occasions, but we do not have the knowledge to properly describe this obi.  Any information from a knowledgeable ebayer would be much appreciated.
